National Aviation Authority
The Law No. 28/2013 of 12 April (portuguese only), outlines the following competencies for the National Aviation Authority:
The NAA is responsible for the coordination and implementation of activities of the Portuguese Air Force regarding the regulation, inspection and supervision of aviation activities supervised by the national defense authority;
The NAA enforces the state authority in the national strategic area of interest, in accordance with the guidelines of the Minister of National Defence;
The NAA, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides counseling on the awarding of the “State Aircraft” status;
The NAA, in coordination with the Civil Aviation National Institute, issues authorizations for aerial surveys.
