Mission

The Head of Department for Airworthiness is responsible for:

 

The issuance of the Airworthiness Certificates for military aircraft;

 

The certification of the personnel performing military aircraft maintenance;

 

The national organization certification regarding the airworthiness of military aircrafts.

 

 

In order to perform these tasks, in coordination with the Air Force, the Head of Department for Airworthiness, ensures the following activities:

 

To ensure the development of the regulation and to counsel on proposal documents developed under the auspices of the European Defence Agency or NATO, regarding airworthiness issues;

 

To ensure the certification of products, parts and appliances/modifications/repairs and approve extensions/exemptions;

 

To ensure the certification of Design, Production, Maintenance, Continuing Airworthiness Management, Maintenance Training Organisations;

 

To ensure the issuance of Certificates of Airworthiness and Permits to fly;

 

To ensure the issuance of Airworthiness Directives;

 

To ensure the Maintenance Programmes for the Weapon Systems;

 

To ensure the Weapons Systems Certifying Staff certification;

 

To ensures the approval of training courses concerning the maintenance of Weapon Systems;

 

To advise the Head of the Office of the NAA on international airworthiness matters.
