Mission

Office of the National Aviation Authority

The mission of the Office of the NAA is established by Law No. 28/2013 of 12 April, as following:

 

To process diplomatic clearance requests for foreign aircraft overflights and landings, after their submission to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

 

To send to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for appropriate action, the national aircraft diplomatic clearance requests for overflights and landings;

 

To issue airworthiness certificates for military aircraft;

 

To regulate air traffic management and air navigation services, at the military level, and to set the rules of operation in airspace for military aircraft, with the required inspection and supervision;

 

To ensure the national representation in military aviation international fora and the national and international civil-military fora, with clearance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when required;

 

To regulate the Search and Rescue Service;

 

To participate in the definition and development of the national and international aviation policy;

 

To certify personnel performing military aviation tasks;

 

To certify the national entities within the airworthiness of military aircraft;

 

To certify military aerodrome infrastructures;

 

To regulate the policing of the national airspace;

 

To issue registrations to military aircraft.
